Privacy Policy

Official URL: https://spotzapp.app/privacy

This Privacy Policy explains how SPOTZ collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the app and related public legal pages.

Information You Provide

When you create or use a SPOTZ account, we collect information such as your email address, username, display name, bio, profile image, account settings, accepted terms version, account status, founder or premium promotion eligibility, and authentication metadata.

You may also provide photo spot titles, descriptions, categories, coordinates, uploaded photos, comments, replies, favorites, likes, reports, blocked-user records, and support messages.

Location Information

SPOTZ uses location information to provide map display, nearby discovery, distance labels, sorting, and location-based photo spot features.

If you enable Location Access in SPOTZ and allow device permission, the app may use your current device location while you use location features. You can turn Location Access off in SPOTZ Privacy Settings or change permission in your device settings.

Photo spots you upload may include the location coordinates and place details you choose to save. Shared public spots may be visible to other users.

Do not share private, sensitive, restricted, or unsafe locations unless you have the right to do so and it is safe and lawful.

Uploaded Photos

Photos you upload for spots or your profile are processed so SPOTZ can store, resize, display, moderate, and deliver them in the app.

SPOTZ uses Cloudinary for image hosting and delivery. Cloudinary may process image files, URLs, technical metadata, and delivery information needed to provide the image service.

Comments, Replies, Favorites, And Likes

SPOTZ stores comments, replies, favorites, likes, timestamps, counters, and related account identifiers to power community and saved-content features.

Comments and replies may be visible to other users. Favorites and likes may be used to maintain counts, personalize your account, and provide app functionality.

Reports And Moderation

When users submit reports, SPOTZ stores information needed to review the report, such as reporter account id, target type, target id, owner id, reason, details, content snapshots, status, and timestamps.

Moderation records may be retained to investigate abuse, enforce rules, protect users, comply with legal obligations, and prevent repeated violations.

Firebase And Authentication

SPOTZ uses Firebase Authentication for sign-up, login, password reset, session handling, and account deletion. Firebase may process account identifiers, email addresses, authentication metadata, and technical information needed for those features.

SPOTZ uses Cloud Firestore for account records, usernames, public profiles, spots, comments, favorites, reports, settings, and related app data.

Website, Cookies, And Local Storage

The public website provides informational, legal, support, and app review pages. The current static website does not intentionally set advertising cookies or run behavioral advertising.

The mobile app may store local session, settings, onboarding, device, and cached image data on your device to keep you signed in and operate app features.

Analytics, Diagnostics, And Notifications

The Firebase project includes an analytics measurement id. SPOTZ may use analytics or diagnostics if enabled to understand app performance, feature usage, crashes, device information, and general usage patterns.

SPOTZ includes notification preferences and may add push notifications in the future. If notifications are enabled, we may process device tokens and notification preferences to send account, community, safety, or feature notifications.

How We Use Information

We use information to create and secure accounts, operate maps and discovery, show user-generated content, store photos, sync data across devices, personalize settings, process reports, moderate content, prepare future request tools, and improve SPOTZ.

We may also use information to detect misuse, enforce terms, administer early user premium promotion eligibility, comply with legal obligations, protect rights and safety, and maintain service integrity.

Legal Bases For Processing

Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we process account, profile, content, settings, and support data to provide the service and perform our agreement with you.

We process safety, security, moderation, fraud-prevention, legal, and service-integrity data based on legitimate interests and legal obligations where applicable.

We process location, photo library, notifications, and similar permission-based features only when you choose to use them and your device permissions allow them.

Sharing And Visibility

Public profile information, uploaded public spots, spot photos, comments, replies, and related usernames may be visible to other SPOTZ users.

We share information with service providers such as Firebase and Cloudinary as needed to operate SPOTZ. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect safety or rights, or during a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

Service providers may process data in countries other than where you live. When required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms or provider commitments for international data transfers.

Retention And Deletion

We keep account and profile information while your account is active. We keep reports, moderation records, security records, legal records, backups, and service logs as long as needed to resolve disputes, enforce rules, protect safety, maintain backups, and comply with legal obligations.

You can delete your account in the app. Account deletion removes your Firebase Auth account, user profile records, username reservation, saved favorites, blocked-user records, local account data, and spots you created from public visibility.

Deletion is designed to start immediately after you confirm in the app, but some retained records and backups may take additional time to expire or be overwritten according to provider backup cycles.

Your Choices And Rights

You can update profile details, disable in-app Location Access, change device permissions, manage notification preferences where available, delete uploaded content where app controls allow it, block users, or delete your account.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, or review of certain automated decisions. To make a privacy request, contact support@spotzapp.app.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

You must be at least 13 years old to use SPOTZ. If a higher minimum age or parental consent is required where you live, you may use SPOTZ only if that requirement is met. SPOTZ is not directed to children under 13. For child account review questions, contact support@spotzapp.app.
